Bhaavamritham Dance Evening Celebrated with Grandeur in Dombivli

A vibrant celebration of classical dance marked Bhaavamritham 2026, conducted as part of International Dance Day by Kalakshetra, Dombivli, at Holy Angels School, Dombivli East last week.The event turned into a memorable artistic gathering, evoking deep appreciation from the audience and organizers alike.

The event was inaugurated by Guru Parwati Dutta, with Dr. Oommen David as the special guest. The function began with the traditional Bhadradeepam lighting, symbolising the revival of Kalakshetra’s activities with renewed enthusiasm from the younger generation.

In his address, the Vice President Muraleedharan reflected on the rich legacy of Kalakshetra and expressed pride in the progress of its students, noting their continued respect and gratitude towards their teachers. The President Vinayan of Kalakshtra also emphasized the need to further strengthen the institution and encouraged collective efforts towards that goal.

The chief guest praised the organizers, describing Kalakshetra as a close-knit artistic family capable of achieving greater heights. He also fondly recalled his long association with the institution and appreciated the dedication of its teachers and students. Dr. Oommen David highlighted the lasting memories of earlier festivals and wished continued growth for the artists.

The evening featured captivating performances by students of Bharatanatyam, who impressed the audience with their grace and discipline. The Ramabhavam ballet, presented by disciples of Kalamandalam Gopalakrishnan, was a standout segment, transporting viewers into a different world through its artistic brilliance.

A Kathak performance by the disciples of Guru Parwati Dutta added a unique dimension to the programme, marking the first time the dance form was presented in Kalakshetra’s history. The students also conducted a workshop for children earlier in the day.

Kalakshetra’s online pencil sketch competition received an encouraging response, with participants competing in senior and junior categories. While the senior category first prize went to a participant from Bihar, Mumbai participants secured top positions in the junior category.

The program was smoothly compered by Kumari Rajitha. Secretary Ranjish expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to making Bhaavamritham a grand success.
