The Bombay Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) organised a condolence meeting on Saturday evening to pay tribute to renowned artist, cultural activist and theatre personality Soorya Krishnamoorthy, who passed away recently. Krishnamoorthy was also the founder and organiser of the prestigious Soorya Festival.
The meeting was held at the Navathi Memorial Hall of the Bombay Keraleeya Samajam. Floral tributes were offered before his portrait as members of the cultural community remembered his significant contributions to art, theatre and culture.
BKS Secretary A. R. Devadas, Arts Wing Convener K. Jayaraman, theatre personality and former Secretary Premarajan Nambiar, and Governing Committee members P. Suresh Babu and Jyothirmayi were among those who spoke at the meeting.
The speakers recalled Krishnamoorthy’s remarkable contribution to the promotion of art and culture and his close association with Mumbai. His frequent visits to the city and his interactions with the local cultural community had inspired and encouraged several artists and cultural organisations, they said.
The gathering expressed deep sorrow at his demise and paid tribute to his enduring contribution to the cultural landscape of Kerala and beyond.
