Prateeksha Foundation to Organise Flower and Payasam Competitions as Part of Onam Celebrations

Vasai: The Prateeksha Foundation will organise a flower arrangement competition and a payasam cooking competition as part of its 26th anniversary celebrations and Onam festivities in Vasai.

The flower arrangement competition will be held on Saturday, September 5, from 9 am at the prayer hall of Sabarigiri Sree Ayyappa Temple. The first prize is ₹10,001, while the second prize is ₹5,001. The payasam cooking competition will be held at the same venue from 5 pm, with prizes of ₹3,001 and ₹2,001 for the first and second places respectively.

The poster announcing the flower competition was released by Prateeksha Foundation Chairman K. B. Uttam Kumar at Sabarigiri Sree Ayyappa Temple. He handed over the poster to Temple President T. S. R. Nair, Secretary A. K. Prabhakaran and Treasurer Dr. Suresh Kumar. Temple committee office-bearer Pankaj Panicker and Prateeksha Foundation office-bearers Amar Das Nair, Venu G. Pillai, R. Divakara Kurup and Sheeja Balan were present.

The main Onam celebrations of the Prateeksha Foundation will be held on September 6 at the Sabarigiri Sree Ayyappa Temple Auditorium, Vasai Road West. Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will inaugurate the celebrations by lighting the traditional lamp.

Union Minister Shripad Naik, Chathannoor MLA B. B. Gopakumar, Palghar MP Dr. Hemant Vishnu Savara, MLAs Rajan Naik, Sneha Dubey and Pandit Rajendra Gavit, along with Vasai-Virar municipal councillors and prominent personalities from the socio-cultural and political fields, are expected to attend the function.

Chathannoor MLA B. B. Gopakumar and Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V. V. Rajesh will be honoured at the event. The Prateeksha Foundation will also present its awards to selected achievers.

An orchestra programme led by Sunil Nair and Neetha Manoj Kumar will follow. Onakkodi will be distributed to ASHA workers and transgender persons in Vasai taluka. Ten students who have excelled in the Class 10 examinations will also be felicitated.

The celebrations will conclude with a traditional Onam Sadhya. Entry to the Sadhya will be through passes. Various committees have been constituted to coordinate the arrangements.
