15th Malayalam Festival (Malayalotsavam) to be Held on August 16 at Chembur

The 15th Malayalam Festival, organized by the Malayalam Language Promotion Group (Malayala Bhasha Pracharana Sangham) will be inaugurated on August 16, 2026, at Chembur Adarsha Vidyalaya. Renowned novelist and short story writer P. Surendran will inaugurate the festival at 3.00 pm. The function will be presided over by Sandeep Varma, President of the Malayalam Language Promotion Group, while noted critic and historian Saji Abraham will be the special guest.

As part of the festival, a Malayalam Book Fair organized by Kairali Books will be held on August 15 and 16 with the objective of promoting reading habits among children and adults. The fair will feature books from leading Malayalam publishers, including DC Books, Mathrubhumi, Chinta Publishers, Green Books, Current Books and Kairali Books.

The two-day event will also include poetry reading, story reading, reading experience sessions, a seminar on book publishing, and cultural programmes. Senior Mumbai-based writers who have completed five decades in literary service will be honoured during the festival.

Students who successfully completed the Malayalam Mission Neelakurinji Examination and those who passed the SSC Examination with Malayalam as a subject this year will also be felicitated in association with KPES.
