Reinforcing its long-standing commitment to social welfare, Nanma Charitable Foundation, a Kalyan-based Malayalee charitable organisation, has launched a year-long Comprehensive Rural School Development Project aimed at improving the educational, health and environmental standards of government schools in rural Maharashtra.

The initiative was formally inaugurated at Zilla Parishad School No. 10 in Vehloli village, Shahapur Taluka, Thane district, where 354 students received school bags, notebooks, umbrellas and other essential learning materials.

The project was inaugurated by Foundation General Secretary Sunil Raj, while Prasad Nair presided over the function. The programme was coordinated by Divya Nair, Suli Kunju Pillai, Pramod Pillai, Nandana, Santhosh Balachandran, Subin and Devadas.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Raj said the Foundation has adopted a holistic approach towards rural school development. Besides providing educational support, the organisation will focus on improving children’s health, enhancing academic performance and creating a better learning environment in villages where literacy levels remain low.

As part of the subsequent phases of the project, the Foundation plans to distribute computers, water purifiers, medicines, nutritional supplements, dining utensils for students, and organise tree plantation drives, rainwater harvesting initiatives, and Diwali sweet distribution for schoolchildren.

For nearly fifteen years, Nanma Charitable Foundation has been actively working for the welfare of underprivileged communities in Mumbai and the tribal regions of Maharashtra through various educational, healthcare and humanitarian initiatives.

Earlier this year, the Foundation also extended financial assistance to around 100 differently-abled students under its Nanma Educational Assistance Initiative, reaffirming its dedication to empowering deserving children through education.

The Comprehensive Rural School Development Project marks another significant milestone in the Foundation’s mission to create sustainable and meaningful change in the lives of rural children and their communities.
