For over two decades, Raagalaya has been more than just a music competition—it has been a celebration of music, talent, and tradition. Established in 2004, the Raagalaya Music Competition was founded with the vision of discovering, encouraging, and nurturing aspiring singers by providing them with a platform to showcase their talent. Alongside promoting young artists, Raagalaya has also proudly honoured and felicitated several stalwarts and legends of the music industry, creating unforgettable moments where budding musicians shared the stage with the icons they admired.
One such cherished memory takes us back to 2009 at the iconic Shanmukhananda Hall, where a young Siddharth Menon, then a regular participant of the Raagalaya Music Competition, received an award from the legendary Padma Vibhushan Dr. S. P. Balasubrahmanyam (SPB). It was a moment of immense pride, capturing the meeting of a rising talent and one of India’s greatest musical legends.
Today, Siddharth Menon has established himself as one of the most celebrated voices in Malayalam music. Looking back at this photograph fills the entire Raagalaya family with pride and joy. It is a reminder that every great journey begins with an opportunity, and we are grateful to have played a small part in nurturing such exceptional talent.
As Raagalaya continues its journey, this photograph stands as a testament to our enduring mission—to encourage young musicians, celebrate excellence, honour the legends who have shaped Indian music, and preserve memories that inspire generations to come.
Some photographs don’t just capture a moment—they capture the beginning of a remarkable journey. ❤️🎶
