Vapi: The Vapi Sree Narayana Mission celebrated the 172nd Sree Narayana Jayanti and the 10th anniversary of the Guru Shakti Mahila Sangh with a series of programmes on September 6. The celebrations were held at the Hariya Park complex of the Sree Narayana Mission Charitable Trust at Vapi-Dungra.

The programmes began at 10 am with sports and art competitions for children, followed by cultural programmes presented by the women’s section and a procession.

The public meeting held at 6 pm was inaugurated by the chief guest, N. S. Salim Kumar, former General Secretary of the Mumbai Sree Narayana Mandira Samithi. In his address, Salim Kumar said that the rulers should take the initiative to implement the teachings of Sree Narayana Guru as a unifying force to eliminate the caste and religious conflicts prevailing in the country.

The Sree Narayana Vidya Jyoti Puraskar, instituted for outstanding achievements in the field of education, was presented to Preethi Janardhan Panicker, while the Sree Narayana Sevaratna Puraskar was awarded to Thulasidharan Pillai.
The newly instituted Sree Narayana Karma Jyoti Puraskar 2026 was presented to P. Ramanan in recognition of his outstanding contribution towards spreading the messages and teachings of Gurudev.

The audience also honoured Sheela Ramanan for her dedicated service as President of the Guru Shakti Mahila Sangh during the past ten years.
Mission President P. Ramanan presided over the function. Chairman K. K. S. Babu also addressed the gathering. Secretary P. R. Ranjan welcomed the gathering, while Convener Anil Divakaran proposed the vote of thanks.
The women’s conference and related programmes were led by Guru Shakti Mahila Sangh President Sheela Ramanan, Secretary Jayanthi Vidyadharan and other office-bearers.
Students who achieved outstanding results from the SSC level to the Doctorate level during the last academic year were honoured at the function. Encouragement prizes were also presented to all those who participated in the cultural programmes.
