Dombivli Samajam Wins BKS Kaikottikali Competition for Third Time

The Keraleeya Samajam Dombivli emerged victorious for the third time in the Kaikottikali Competition organised by the Bombay Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) at the Mysore Association Hall, Matunga, on Sunday.

The competition, which brought together 16 teams from different parts of Mumbai, turned into a vibrant celebration of Kerala’s cultural traditions and provided an impressive artistic experience for the Malayali community in the city. The event was conducted with the active participation of the Samajam’s women’s wing and members of the governing body.

The programme began at 9.30 am with the lighting of the traditional Bhadradeepam by the Samajam office-bearers and members of the administrative committee. The competition was followed by a cultural meeting and prize distribution ceremony at 4 pm.

BKS President K. Devadas presided over the function. Samajam Secretary A. R. Devadas welcomed the gathering, while Joint Secretary T. A. Sasi proposed the vote of thanks. Art Department Convener Harikumar Kurup, along with competition judges Kalamandalam Vijayashree, Pratibha Janardhanan and Nisha Gilbert, shared the dais.

Keraleeya Samajam Dombivli won the first prize of ₹25,000, along with a plaque and certificate. Natya Academy, Seawoods, secured the second prize of ₹15,000, while East Kalyan Kerala Samajam won the third prize of ₹10,000. All participating teams were presented with a consolation prize of ₹2,000 and certificates of appreciation.

The first prize was sponsored by Seagull International Group, while the second and third prizes were sponsored by Farmis Spices LLP.

Popular singers Madhu Nambiar and Sebastian handled the technical arrangements, while Shyam Seawoods compered the programme. The event was successfully coordinated by the women’s wing members and governing body members of the Bombay Keraleeya Samajam.
