Saraswathy Kala Kendra and Research Centre(Mira Road) has organised a special programme on the occasion of Guru Poornima by celebrating the ceremony of the dancing bells “Salangai and Gajja Pooja” in the Bharata Natyam and Kuchipudi dance styles for young students who have completed the normal repertoire and are ready to ascend the stage for the debut performance. This function will be held on Saturday 8th August at the beautiful Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar Natyagruha in

Saraswathy Kala Kendra has been established by accomplished Bharata Natyam and Kuchipudi exponent, Natya Sharada Guru Subitha Murali who says that the ceremony programme of the dancing bells is of particular importance as the dancing bells are considered sacred for the dancer, thereby it is placed at the altar of the Gods to seek blessings and also seek divine intervention which is great importance in the field of Indian classical dance. The presiding deities of Indian classical
dance is Lord Shiva, Lord Ganapati, Goddess Parvati and the goddess of learning and knowledge – Saraswathy.. Prior to the performance the dancing bells are worshipped and then after seeking the blessings of the Gurus and elders, the dancing bells are ultimately worn by the dancer, thereby rendering the awaited performance.
Guru Subitha Murali has trained several dance aspirants for the past few decades and has participated in some of the most prestigious dance festivals in India and overseas.
