Since 2004, Raagalaya has been conducting its annual Light Music Competition for music lovers of all age groups, beginning from 5 years to the 60+ category. Over the years, we have had the privilege of discovering and encouraging many talented singers, several of whom have gone on to become professional playback and stage performers.
One of the proudest traditions of Raagalaya has been presenting the winners with their awards at the hands of legendary singers during our prestigious Raagalaya Award functions. Those memorable moments continue to inspire aspiring musicians.
Among all the categories, the 60+ group gives us immense satisfaction. Providing a platform for senior music enthusiasts to fulfil their lifelong passion for singing has been one of Raagalaya’s greatest achievements.
I take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to the late Shri M. G. Radhakrishnan, who anchored our competition every year with great warmth and professionalism until his untimely demise. I also sincerely thank Geeta Poduval, Ashish Abraham, and Sreekumar Mavelikkara for continuing this wonderful tradition as our esteemed anchors.
My sincere appreciation also goes to our dedicated orchestra team—Venugopal, Vichoo Iyer, Kumar, Abhilash, and Sani Moses—whose excellent musical support has contributed immensely to the success of the competition. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to all our respected judges over the years for their valuable guidance and encouragement to the participants.
