Mulund: The Hillside Residents’ Welfare Association (HIRWA) organised a signature campaign in Mulund demanding urgent measures to address the increasing traffic congestion in the area. The campaign called on the authorities to widen Malabar Hill Road, Mulund Colony Road, Model Town Road and the Veena Nagar flyover, and to implement an effective traffic management plan before the situation becomes unmanageable.

Prakash Padikal, a prominent social worker and local resident, pointed out that the locality is adjacent to Sanjay Gandhi National Park, where a large-scale development project under the SRA scheme has begun on nearly 32 acres of land. Prestige Builders are reportedly constructing 11 high-rise buildings of about 70 storeys each, along with three proposed schools, a shopping mall and an office complex. Residents fear that such large developments will significantly increase traffic and place heavy pressure on the existing road infrastructure.

Through the campaign, the association reiterated its long-standing demand for infrastructure development proportionate to the upcoming construction projects and the expected rise in population.
The signatures collected during the campaign will be submitted to the concerned civic and traffic authorities, urging them to take immediate steps to improve road infrastructure and traffic management in Mulund.
