The Thane Region of the Malayalam Mission Mumbai Chapter organised its Pravesanotsavam today at MEWA’s Vidyaniketan English School, bringing together Malayalam language enthusiasts, students, parents, cultural activists and well-wishers in a vibrant celebration of the Malayalam language and Kerala’s rich cultural heritage.
The programme commenced at 10 am and featured a series of activities highlighting the importance of preserving and promoting Malayalam among the younger generation of Malayalis living in Mumbai.
Well-known writer, poet and cultural activist Santosh Pallasana was the chief guest. In his address, he emphasised the significance of keeping the Malayalam language alive among the diaspora and encouraged the younger generation to remain connected with their linguistic and cultural roots.
A special attraction of the programme was a demonstration of Kathakali, the traditional classical dance-drama of Kerala, by popular Kathakali artiste Ms. Tara Varma. She presented selected aspects of this great art form and explained its distinctive features to the audience. The presentation was well received and appreciated by everyone present.
Sreekant Nair, Adv. Prema Menon and Adv. Rajkumar were also present as guests at the function and extended their support to the Malayalam Mission’s efforts to promote Malayalam language and culture among the Malayali community in Mumbai.
The Pravesanotsavam served as an occasion to welcome new learners into the Malayalam Mission and reaffirm the collective commitment to nurturing Malayalam language, literature, art and cultural traditions among the next generation.
