City-based young Odissi dancer Krityea Narsing Rana, a disciple of Pt Rabindra Atibudhi, delivered a vibrant Odissi recital at the inauguration of the Hami Earth Festival held at the National Gallery of Modern Art on January 23.

The festival was organised by playback singer Hrishikesh Chury, with support from Tisser and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, with the aim of promoting awareness of India’s rich cultural heritage in a global context.

Krityea presented a concise and dramatic depiction from the Ramayana, focusing on the Sita Swayamvaram episode. His portrayal of various kings, including Ravana, attempting and failing to lift the Shiva Dhanush drew appreciative smiles, while Lord Rama’s triumph was powerfully conveyed through refined abhinaya and technique.

Blessed with a striking stage presence, Krityea’s performance left a lasting impression on the audience, which included advertising guru Prahlad Kakkar, who felicitated the dancer along with Hrishikesh Chury at the event.

Krityea had made his Odissi debut last year at ISKCON, where veteran actress and danseuse Hema Malini praised his dedication and predicted a promising future. Having already performed at several prestigious festivals, the young artiste continues to earn acclaim for his expressive and disciplined performances.
