Maharashtra’s First Malayali Premier League Concludes on a Grand Note; Dombivli Keraleeya Samajam Crowned Champions

The maiden edition of the Malayali Premier League (MPL), organized by the World Malayali Federation Maharashtra State Council, concluded with great enthusiasm and community spirit in Dombivli.

Dombivli Keraleeya Samajam emerged as the proud champions, displaying remarkable teamwork and consistency throughout the tournament. Nava Kerala Blasters finished as runners-up after a spirited performance, while Komban Kings secured the third position.

The final match was highly engaging, with both teams showcasing competitive cricket. However, Dombivli Keraleeya Samajam held their nerve at crucial moments to seal the victory.

A total of 16 teams from across Maharashtra participated, making the tournament a vibrant platform for Malayali cricket enthusiasts.

Cash prizes and trophies were awarded to the winners—₹50,000 for first place, ₹25,000 for second, and ₹15,000 for third—along with certificates and medals for all participants.

The tournament was inaugurated by MLA Rajesh More, while Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik attended as the Chief Guest. National-level cricketer Sudhish Nair graced the occasion as Special Guest.

The event was led by Patron Dr. Oommen David, President Dr. Roy John Mathew, Secretary Dominic Paul, and a dedicated organizing team headed by Antony Philip and members of the Sports Committee.

Spanning from morning to evening, the tournament turned into a true celebration of unity, sportsmanship, and the vibrant Malayali community spirit in Maharashtra.
