Mumbayile Malayali Prathibhakal is a regular feature of Kerala in Mumbai, dedicated to celebrating the lives, achievements, and enduring contributions of Malayalees who have distinguished themselves in Mumbai through talent, dedication, perseverance, and hard work.
For decades, members of the Malayali community have played a significant role in shaping the social, cultural, educational, and economic landscape of Mumbai. Their contributions span diverse fields such as literature, arts, music, cinema, business, education, science, social service, sports, and public life. Their journeys of commitment and excellence continue to inspire generations and remain a source of pride for the community.
Through this feature, Kerala in Mumbai seeks to document and honour these remarkable personalities by sharing their stories of achievement, resilience, service, and leadership, thereby preserving an important chapter in the collective memory of Mumbai’s Malayali community.
In this edition of Mumbaiyile Malayali Prathibhakal, we proudly present M. R. Francis, a distinguished entrepreneur and industry professional who made his mark in the frozen food and seafood export industry. His journey and achievements were featured in the Kerala in Mumbai magazine’s December 2013 issue.
Beginning his career in Mumbai as a Production Manager, Francis went on to become General Manager of Naik Frozen Foods Pvt. Ltd. and later served as a Director of Refrigerated Distributors Pvt. Ltd. and a partner in Nine Up Frozen Foods. With extensive experience in the sector, he played an important role in the processing and export of frozen food and seafood to international markets.
His professional achievements earned him several honours, including the FMC Business Excellence Award and the Jeevakarunya Award.
Beyond his business career, Francis was also known for his commitment to helping the less fortunate, contributing to charitable activities without distinction of caste or religion. His life reflects a blend of professional success, social responsibility and community involvement.
We hope this regular feature continues to celebrate the remarkable Malayalees of Mumbai whose achievements and contributions have enriched both the community and the city they call home.
