New Panvel: The spirit of Kerala’s traditional festival, Onam, came alive at Sreejisangh Society in Khanda Colony, New Panvel, with two days of vibrant celebrations filled with cultural programmes and traditional festivities.

The celebrations commenced on the evening of October 31 with traditional Kaikottikali and various cultural dance performances, showcasing Kerala’s rich artistic heritage. The festivities continued on November 1 with the preparation and arrangement of beautiful Pookalams (floral carpets), followed by a grand Onam Sadhya, bringing residents together in the true spirit of the festival.

A special highlight of this year’s celebration was the revival of the society’s annual Onam festivities, which had remained suspended since the COVID-19 pandemic. The much-awaited comeback witnessed enthusiastic participation from residents across all age groups.

The successful organisation of the event was made possible through the active leadership and dedicated efforts of the society’s youth, while the elders extended their valuable guidance and support. The celebrations not only revived a cherished annual tradition but also strengthened the bonds of togetherness and community spirit among residents.
