The Borivali Malayali Samaj, which has been actively contributing to the educational, social, artistic and cultural spheres of Mumbai, celebrated Onam with great enthusiasm and grandeur through a vibrant array of cultural programmes.

The celebrations were held on Sunday, August 30, at the V. K. Krishna Menon School Auditorium, bringing together a large number of Samaj members and their families. The event reflected the rich traditions of Kerala’s Onam season while highlighting the spirit of friendship, unity and community bonding among Malayalis living in Mumbai.

The cultural programmes added colour and energy to the celebrations, with members across different age groups coming together to showcase their talents. The participation of families and members turned the occasion into a lively celebration of Kerala’s cultural heritage.

A major highlight of the event was the traditional and sumptuous Onam Sadya, which was enjoyed by all those who attended. The elaborate feast brought the authentic flavours and festive spirit of Kerala to the gathering, making the celebration even more memorable.

Speaking about the successful conduct of the programme, Samaj President Shri Sriraj Nair said that the collective efforts of the committee members and volunteers, along with the wholehearted cooperation of the members, played a major role in making the Onam celebrations a grand success.

Secretary Shri Baburaj Joseph said that the Onam celebration represented the strength of the Borivali Malayali community, which continues to preserve its culture and traditions despite living away from their homeland. He noted that such gatherings provide an opportunity for the community to come together, strengthen bonds and pass Kerala’s cultural heritage on to the younger generation.

The celebration was more than just a festive gathering; it was a reflection of the community’s enduring connection with its roots. Through music, dance, cultural programmes, traditional food and fellowship, the Borivali Malayali Samaj once again brought the warmth and spirit of Kerala to Mumbai.

With cherished memories, cultural pride and a strong sense of togetherness, the celebrations concluded on a memorable note — another Onam to remember.
