The Malayalam Mission Mumbai Chapter will celebrate its annual Pravesanotsavam (Entrance Festival) on Sunday, August 9, with colourful programmes being organised at nearly 30 venues across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Vasai–Virar, Nashik and other parts of Maharashtra. The Pravesanotsavam marks the formal induction of new learners into the Malayalam Mission for the 2026–27 academic year. Following the month-long Home Visit Campaign conducted from July 1 to 31, Malayali organisations, cultural associations and volunteers have joined hands to make the event a grand celebration. Hundreds of new learners are expected to enrol this year, and they will be welcomed by existing students, teachers and volunteers at the traditional Akshara Muttam with cultural performances, artistic programmes and distribution of sweets.
In the Nashik Region, all study centres will jointly celebrate the Pravesanotsavam at the Swami Ayyappan Trust, Pathardi Phata, from 3.30 pm. The Kalyan–Badlapur Region will hold a joint celebration at Bharat College, Hindrepada, Badlapur West, beginning at 3.30 pm. In the Mumbra–Kalyan Region, programmes will be held at St. Peter’s Academy, Chinchpada Road, Kalyan East (2.00 pm), D.K.S. Library, Thakurli East (11.00 am), K.S.D. Library, Lodha Heaven (4.00 pm), East Kalyan Kerala Samajam Hall (4.30 pm), Adarsha Vidyalayam, Rajaji Path, Dombivli East (10.00 am), and the Lok Kalyan Malayali Association Office at Lok Dhara Phase II.
The Thane Region will organise a combined celebration at Meva School, Vartak Nagar, from 10.00 am. In the Nallasopara–Boisar Region, celebrations will take place at Nallasopara Keraleeya Samajam Hall (10.00 am), Old Viva College, Virar West (4.00 pm), Ayyappa Swamy Temple, Palghar (10.00 am), and C.T.E.S. School, Chitralaya, Tarapur (2.30 pm). The Mira–Vasai Region will conduct programmes at Holy Family School, Evershine City, Vasai East (4.00 pm) and Sree Narayana Mandira Samiti Hall, Mira Road (5.00 pm).
The Bandra–Dahisar Region, comprising study centres functioning under various Malayali organisations, churches and educational institutions, will jointly celebrate the festival at St. Thomas Orthodox Valiyapalli Hall, Chincholi, Malad West, from 3.00 pm. In the Powai–Sakinaka–East Region, programmes are scheduled at Mahindra Splendor, Bhandup West (3.00 pm), Vikhroli Malayali Samajam Hall (3.00 pm), and Clelia Niketan Convent, Jose Nagar, Sakinaka.
In the Colaba–Mankhurd Zone, the celebration will be organised by TTFAC at AECS-2. The Kharghar–Airoli Zone will host programmes at the New Bombay Keraleeya Samajam Hall, Nerul East (4.00 pm), New Bombay Cultural Centre Hall, Kopar Khairane (6.00 pm), Seawoods Malayali Samajam Office (3.00 pm), Ghansoli Malayali Samajam Foundation Office (10.30 am), Kairali Cultural and Educational Association Office, Airoli, Kerala Samajam Office, Ulwe Node, Kairali Kalamandal, Vashi (11.00 am), and Kerala Samajam Office, Sanpada.
The Mahad–Kamothe Region will jointly celebrate the Pravesanotsavam at Balgram Hall, Sector 12, opposite C.K.T. College, Kanda Colony, Panvel, from 3.30 pm, while the Konkan Region will organise the function at the Pen Malayali Samajam Reading Room in Pen from 10.00 am.
