The Maharashtra State Council of the World Malayali Federation is set to honour two young organic farmers from Alappuzha — seventh-grade student Farida Firoz and fourth-grade student Fadia Firoz — for their inspiring contribution to sustainable agriculture.
Hailing from Alappuzha district, the sisters have earned national recognition for cultivating a wide variety of vegetables and fruit seedlings through organic methods, even under harsh climatic conditions. Their passion for farming has not only won them several awards but has also helped fulfil their long-cherished dream of air travel, made possible through award prize money and the goodwill of supporters.

The felicitation ceremony will be held on January 31 at 4.30 pm at the Holy Angel School Auditorium, East Dombivli, under the leadership of Dr. Oommen David, Chief Patron of the Federation. Fedration President Dr. Roy John Mathew and other Senior office-bearers of the World Malayali Federation, along with representatives of Dombivli Keraleeya Samajam and other community organisations, will attend the function. Cash awards, mementos and gold medals will be presented to the young achievers.
The child farmers will arrive in Mumbai on January 29, accompanied by their parents, noted environmental activist and Vanamitra awardee Firoz Ahmed and N. Nazila, along with their younger brother. During their three-day visit, they will also tour prominent landmarks in Mumbai, experiencing the city’s cultural and historical heritage.
The initiative stands as a proud moment for the Malayali community, highlighting how dedication to nature and hard work can inspire young minds and society at large. For more details contact Mr. N. T. Pillai on +91 81083 18692
