A review of the novel Nagarathinte Manifesto by noted writer Preman Illath was held at the BPC Hall during the December 2025 Literary Evening of Kerala Samajam, Dombivli. Renowned writer and critic Santosh Pallassana presented an insightful review, highlighting the contemporary relevance of the novel, the distinctive narrative style of Preman Illath, and vividly introducing the major characters that shape the work.
The function was presided over by Rajasekharan Nair, General Secretary of the Samajam, and was ably moderated by Joy Guruvayur, Convener of the Literary Evening. The event witnessed active participation from literary enthusiasts and writers from Dombivli, Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, and Navi Mumbai, adding depth and vibrancy to the discussions.
Participants unanimously observed that Nagarathinte Manifesto, which powerfully captures the history, spirit, and life of Mumbai, is a compelling and must-read novel. Preman Illath, who has already made a notable mark in Malayalam literature through his earlier works, shared that his writings are gaining recognition beyond language boundaries. He informed the audience that his novel The Book of the Outcasts has been translated into Arabic and English, while Nagarathinte Manifesto is currently being translated into Marathi and English.
Adding to the excitement, it was announced that the novel is also being adapted into a stage play and a feature film. The evening concluded with warm wishes from the literary community, expressing confidence that Nagarathinte Manifesto will see multiple editions and reach a wide readership, while anticipating many more significant works from Preman Illath in the years to come.
