In an important move aimed at strengthening airport security, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued strict guidelines prohibiting unauthorized photography and videography in sensitive areas of airports across India. The new regulations apply to both domestic and international airports and are intended to prevent the accidental recording and circulation of sensitive operational and security-related information.

According to the guidelines, passengers, visitors, vloggers, content creators and social media influencers are not permitted to shoot reels, videos or photographs in restricted operational zones without prior authorization. The prohibited areas include security checkpoints, boarding gates, runway buses, aircraft parking aprons, aircraft handling zones and other sensitive airport facilities.

Authorities have warned that violations may attract financial penalties and, in serious cases, offenders may face inclusion in the DGCA’s No-Fly List, leading to temporary or even permanent restrictions on air travel depending on the gravity of the offence. Security agencies may also seize mobile phones, cameras or other recording devices for investigation if required.

Airport officials have urged travellers to exercise caution while creating social media content and to strictly adhere to airport security regulations. Passengers are advised to enjoy their travel experience responsibly and avoid filming in restricted areas to prevent legal action and ensure the safety and security of airport operations.
