Mulund Kerala Samajam to Celebrate Onam on September 20th

The annual Onam celebration of Mulund Kerala Samajam will be held on Sunday, September 20, at the Maharashtra Seva Sangh Hall, above Apna Bazaar, Mulund West. The celebrations will feature a variety of cultural programmes presented by members of the Samajam and renowned artists from Mumbai.

The programme will begin at 10 am with the lighting of the Bhadradeepam by Samajam President T. K. Rajendrababu, General Secretary B. K. K. Kannan, Treasurer Muralidharan, Lion M. Kumaran Nair, Emirates Kalashri President C. K. K. Poduval, and Programme Convener Sasidharan Nair, followed by the formal inauguration of the Onam celebrations.

The Ajith Kumar Nair Memorial Award will be presented to the students who secured the highest marks in the SSC and HSC examinations during the previous academic year.

The cultural programmes will include Kaikottikkali and a presentation featuring Mahabali Chakravarthy, performed by the Women’s Section under the leadership of Usha Radhakrishnan. Siva Shankar Krishna, winner of Flowers Top Singer Season 5, will present a selection of songs.

Students of Geetha Nriththa Vidyalaya, Mulund, under the guidance of dance teacher Girija Teacher, will present the ballet Sree Krishna Leela. Kalamandalam Kalashri C. Gopalakrishnan will direct a dance presentation of Ramanan, the celebrated poem by beloved Malayalam poet Changampuzha Krishna Pillai.

Prominent personalities from Mumbai’s socio-cultural sphere will also be honoured during the programme.

Sangeetha, Suprabha Nair and Edassery Ramachandran will jointly anchor the programme.

The celebrations will conclude at 2 pm with a traditional and sumptuous Onam Sadya.
