NBKS Onam Celebrations in Nerul Tomorrow

Navi Mumbai: The New Bombay Keraleeya Samajam (NBKS) will celebrate Onam on a grand scale on Sunday, August 23, at Bhanushali Wadi Hall, Sector 19-A, Nerul. The celebrations are being organised with the aim of strengthening cultural unity and fostering friendship among members of the Malayali community.

The festivities will commence at 10 am with the ceremonial arrival of Maveli, accompanied by a traditional Chendamelam. This will be followed by a colourful array of cultural programmes featuring children and members of various classes and wings of the Samajam.

Songs, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, cinematic dance, Mohiniyattam and Kalaripayattu will be among the major attractions. Special performances by students of the Malayalam and music classes, a clapping performance by the women’s section and dance presentations by the youth wing will also form part of the programme.

A colourful Pookkalam, tug-of-war and uriyadi competitions and a traditional Onam feast have also been arranged as part of the celebrations.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Mayor Sujatha Suraj Patil will be the chief guest at the felicitation ceremony. NORKA Development Officer R. B. Arun and Nerul Senior Police Inspector Ajay Kamble will also offer their greetings on the occasion.
