The Nair Welfare Association, Malad celebrated Onam with traditional fervour and enthusiasm on Sunday, 16 August 2026, at Bombay Public School, Marve Road, Malad. Organised by the Ladies Wing of the Association, the celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from members and their families.

The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the Nilavilakku. A major highlight was the grand welcome accorded to King Mahabali, accompanied by rhythmic thaalam and vibrant chenda melam. Adding a unique touch, Mahabali was portrayed by a lady member of the Association.

The celebrations featured a graceful Thiruvathira Kali, various cultural programmes and the much-awaited Vadamvali (Tug of War), which saw spirited participation from both men and women.

The festivities concluded with a traditional Onam Sadya, bringing the celebrations to a delicious close. The event beautifully reflected the spirit of Onam through tradition, culture, camaraderie and community fellowship.
