A workshop was organized for teachers at Chembur Adarsha Vidyalaya under the leadership of the Malayalam Mission Mumbai Chapter on Sunday, August 2. The inaugural session of the workshop, which began at 9:30 am, was presided over by Chapter President R.D. Harikumar. Secretary Reena Santosh welcomed the teachers. Malayalam Mission Mumbai Chapter Chairman Dr. A.P. Jayaraman inaugurated the workshop.
Recalling the work done by him and his colleagues in Bombay to translate scientific terms into Malayalam years ago, Dr. A.P. Jayaraman said in his inaugural speech that mother tongue learning should be a completely natural process and that it should start from the homes themselves. He added that the Neelakurinji flowers only once in twelve years and the Malayalam Mission Mumbai has given Malayalam a flowering season for three consecutive years. Pavithran Kannoth, General Secretary of Kerala People’s Education Society and President of the Malayalam Mission Powai-Sakinaka-East Zone, offered his best wishes.
The workshop focused on how to deliver Malayalam Mission lessons to learners in the classrooms in a student-centric and enjoyable way through various activities. Malayalam Mission Mumbai Chapter Resource Persons Reena Santhosh, Jeevarajan, Anil Prakash, N. Hari, Nisha Prakash, Jayashree Rajesh and Lissy Jayaraj led the workshop.
More than fifty teachers from 12 zones of the Mumbai Chapter participated in the workshop. The participating teachers opined that such workshops would be beneficial to strengthen the activities of the Malayalam Mission and to achieve excellence in the academic field, and should be continued. The one-day workshop ended at 6 pm.
