A Cherished Beginning…

The year 2004 remains one of the most memorable milestones in my musical journey. During that year, I had the privilege of organising two musical programmes featuring the legendary playback singer P. Jayachandran one for Ahmedabad Kerala Samajam in Ahmedabad and another, organised by me, at the prestigious Shanmukhananda Hall in Mumbai.

Adding to the charm of these memorable concerts were the performances of Suresh Kumar, popularly known as Asianet Paattupetti Suresh, and the late singer M. S. Naseem, whose presence made the events even more special.

Both concerts were immensely successful and received an overwhelming response from music lovers. The encouragement and inspiration we received during those events led to an important decision to establish a musical trust dedicated to the promotion of Indian music and the preservation of its rich legacy.

Thus was born the idea of Raagalaya Academy of Music & Arts, a year before Raagalaya was officially formed.

The story of our very first Raagalaya programme and the remarkable journey that followed will be shared in my next post. Stay tuned!
