The Mumbai Chapter of Malayalam Mission, an initiative of the Government of Kerala dedicated to promoting the Malayalam language and culture among expatriate Malayalees, will observe Home Visit Month from July 1 to 31, 2026 as part of its annual admission campaign.

The month-long initiative aims to reach Malayali families across Mumbai, conduct welfare surveys, reconnect former students and parents with Malayalam Mission, and encourage more children to learn their mother tongue. The Mumbai Chapter is the only Malayalam Mission chapter that undertakes an annual home visit campaign to promote Malayalam education.

Malayalam Mission offers a structured curriculum comprising Kanikkonna, Suryakanthi, Ambal, and Neelakurinji. Students who successfully complete the Neelakurinji course receive a Government of Kerala certificate equivalent to the Secondary School level in the Kerala curriculum, opening up opportunities for higher studies and eligibility in Kerala Government examinations where Malayalam proficiency is required.

The Mumbai Chapter has earned recognition for its outstanding work, winning the Kanikonna Award for the Best Chapter in 2023. In 2025, Nisha Prakash received the prestigious Bodhi Teacher Award for excellence in teaching. The chapter has also recorded impressive results in the Neelakurinji examinations, and expects another successful batch in the July 2026 examination.

The Pravesanolsavam (Admission Festival) for new learners will be held on August 9, 2026, at various regional centres across Mumbai.

The Malayalam Mission Mumbai Chapter has appealed to parents, Malayalee Samajams, community organisations, teachers, and language lovers to extend their wholehearted support to make the campaign a success.
