Keraleeya Samajam, Dombivli, one of the most vibrant cultural institutions of the Malayali community outside Kerala, will host the Thunchan Literary Festival 2026 on Sunday, 21 June 2026, from 10.00 a.m.
Dedicated to the memory of Thunchath Ezhuthachan, the Father of the Malayalam Language, the festival celebrates literature, culture and the enduring spirit of Malayalam in the diaspora. A major highlight of the event is the presentation of the KSD Thunchan Memorial Literary Award, instituted for the first time to honour an outstanding Malayalam literary work selected by a distinguished jury of Maharashtra-based novelists. The award carries a cash prize of ₹25,000, a sculpture and a citation.
The festival will feature the presence of eminent personalities including celebrated novelist T. D. Ramakrishnan, K. Jayakumar IAS (Retd.), senior journalist M. G. Arun, cultural activist K. Rajan, novelist Balakrishnan, writer and critic Santosh Pallassana, and noted speaker V. K. Suresh Babu. Literary discussions, seminars and thought-provoking sessions will make the event a memorable gathering of writers, readers and lovers of Malayalam literature.
More than a literary festival, Thunchan Literary Festival 2026 is a cultural declaration reaffirming the Malayali community’s commitment to preserving and celebrating its linguistic and literary heritage for future generations.
