The Malayali community in Mumbai is mourning the tragic loss of Radhakrishna K. P. Menon (16 March 1944 – 31 May 2026), who lost his life in a road accident in Andheri West on Sunday evening.
The 82-year-old resident of Four Bungalows was reportedly on his routine walk to his son’s residence in SVP Nagar to meet his granddaughter when he was struck by a speeding motorcycle on Lokhandwala Back Road. He sustained severe injuries and succumbed shortly thereafter. The motorcycle was allegedly being ridden by an 18-year-old youth, against whom Versova Police have registered a case for rash and negligent driving.
A respected senior citizen known for his simplicity, warmth and deep love for his family, Menon regularly preferred walking despite his advanced age. His sudden demise has deeply saddened relatives, friends and members of Mumbai’s Malayali community.
He is survived by his wife Anandam, son Sreejit, daughter Sreevidya, daughter-in-law Samannaz and granddaughter Arianna.
The tragic incident has also renewed concerns over pedestrian safety in the Lokhandwala area, with local residents calling for stricter traffic enforcement and improved infrastructure to protect senior citizens and pedestrians.
May his soul attain eternal peace. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. May Shri Radhakrishna K. P. Menon’s memories remain a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew him.
