The socio-cultural fraternity in Mumbai mourns the passing of Ramesh Iyer (67), popularly known as Raagasudha Ramesh, a dynamic and dedicated cultural organiser who played a significant role in enriching Kerala’s cultural life in the city. A resident of Dombivli and a native of Palakkad, Ramesh Iyer was one of the key forces behind Ragasudha and the much-acclaimed Mumbai Pooram, which brought Kerala’s traditions to the forefront. After covid he has shifted his base to Kerala.
He was the visionary behind the mega Kaikottikkali event held at the Dombivli KDMC Ground, which created history in 2012 by entering the Guinness Book of World Records with 2,639 women participants. Under his leadership, several memorable cultural programmes were organised, featuring legendary artistes and drawing wide community participation.
Known for his multi-faceted personality and tireless commitment to society, Ramesh Iyer was always at the forefront of cultural and community initiatives. His passing is an irreparable loss to the Malayali community in Mumbai. He will be fondly remembered for his vision, energy, and lasting contributions to Kerala’s cultural life in the city.
