Ahmedabad witnessed a significant gathering of the Gujarati Malayalee community as the 12th General Body Meeting and Executive Committee Election of the Federation of Gujarat Malayalee Associations (FEGMA) was held on 18 January 2026 at the J.G. International School campus. The event was hosted by the Ahmedabad Kerala Samajam.
Presided over by FEGMA President Dr. K. M. Ramachandran, the meeting reviewed the organisation’s activities and outlined future plans. General Secretary Mr. B. Shajahan presented a comprehensive report highlighting key initiatives, including Silver Jubilee celebrations, state-level cultural festivals, the FEGMA Maha Sammelanam and the launch of the FEGMA Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The income and expenditure statement was presented by Treasurer Mr. Rajesh Kurup, while proposed constitutional amendments were explained by Vice President Mr. Jayakumar K. Nair.
The Executive Committee election was conducted smoothly under the supervision of Presiding Officer Mr. M. S. Sudarsanan. Dr. K. M. Ramachandran was re-elected as President, with Mr. Sunil Sampyar as General Secretary and Mr. Rajesh Kurup as Treasurer, along with a new team of office bearers representing various regions of Gujarat.
The meeting began with a welcome address by Dr. Jacob Mathew, President of Ahmedabad Kerala Samajam, and concluded with a vote of thanks, marking another milestone in FEGMA’s journey of unity, culture and community service.
