Pisharody Samajam Mumbai – 43rd Annual Celebration

Pisharody Samajam Mumbai celebrated its 43rd Annual Celebrations on Sunday, 4 January 2026, with a day-long cultural programme held in a festive and traditional atmosphere. The celebrations commenced at 9.45 a.m. with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by President Sri A. P. Raghupathi, along with senior members and office-bearers of the Samajam. The opening prayer was rendered by Sri Aravind Kuttikrishnan.

The cultural segment began with a graceful Kaikottikkali presented by the Dombivli Area Women’s Wing, followed by a colourful mix of Bharatanatyam, folk dances, Lavni, Kathaprasangam, Nadan Pattu and bhajans, performed by members and children of the community.

A major highlight of the celebrations was the presentation of Kurathiyattam, a traditional temple folk art, staged for the first time in Mumbai. The performance, based on a mythological theme, was presented by Smt. Vechur Ramadevi, Sri Vechur Gopi and their troupe. Smt. Ramadevi, a recipient of the State Government Folklore Award, received special appreciation for the captivating presentation.

As part of the programme, annual educational awards were distributed to meritorious students of the Samajam. The function concluded with a vote of thanks by Sri Dinesh Pisharody, Dahisar–Virar area representative, followed by the National Anthem at 5.00 p.m.
