Ulve Samajam honoured K.K. Velayudhan, an international powerlifting champion, in recognition of his outstanding achievement at the Asian Masters Classic Powerlifting Championship held in Islamabul.
Seventy-one-year-old Velayudhan, a native of Palakkad and currently based in Mumbai, won a gold medal for India in the 59 kg category, bringing laurels to the country and the Malayali community.
The felicitation was organised by the Kerala Samajam, Ulve Node, at its office premises. Office bearers including the Vice President, Secretary, committee members and representatives of the Women’s Section were present at the ceremony. Velayudhan was honoured with a gold medal and a memento.
It is noteworthy that Rashmi, Velayudhan’s daughter, is an active member of Ulve Samajam. The Samajam lauded Velayudhan’s dedication, discipline and inspiring achievement, which stands as a motivation for people across age groups.
