The Vasai Fine Arts Society has announced its annual awards ahead of the cultural festival scheduled from December 3 to 7 at the Sabarigiri Temple Prayer Hall, Vasai West.
This year’s honours in the instrumental music category go to renowned Kerala percussionists — Kariyanoor Narayanan Namboothiri (Thimila), Kottakkal Ravi (Maddalam) and Cherusseri Kuttan Marar (Chenda) — for their outstanding contribution to traditional temple percussion.
In the travel and tourism category, the award will be presented to K V Abdul Nazar Chairman of Akbar group of companies. The Young Entrepreneur Award in the advertising category will be conferred on Rajeev Rajan, founder of Sequence Communications.
The five-day festival will feature dance, music, local art exhibitions, and various cultural programmes.
