The year 2006 remains one of the most memorable chapters in Raagalaya’s journey.
The Raagalaya Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to two legendary personalities of Malayalam music – renowned lyricist Sreekumaran Thampi and the late, great music director Arjunan Master – at a glittering function held at the prestigious Shanmukhananda Hall, Mumbai.
I still cherish the opportunity to interact with these humble and down-to-earth legends. Those unforgettable moments and conversations continue to remain close to my heart.
The evening came alive with a spectacular musical tribute featuring evergreen songs written and composed by these maestros. Popular playback singers K. S. Chithra, Madhu Balakrishnan, Sudeep Kumar, Preetha Kannan, Kallara Gopan, and Edappal Viswanathan enthralled the packed audience with their soulful performances.
One of the most cherished moments of my life was getting the opportunity to sing my favourite song of this legendary duo, “Nin Maniyarayile…”, in their presence. It was truly a blessed and unforgettable experience.
Adding to the grandeur of the evening was a mesmerizing dance performance by the acclaimed actress and classical dancer Shobana, making it a complete feast for music and dance lovers.
The auditorium was filled to capacity, and the audience enjoyed every moment of this unforgettable celebration of music. Looking back, it fills my heart with immense gratitude for having been able to create and witness such magical moments through Raagalaya.
