Thane, June 30, 2026: Reaffirming its commitment to rural education and community welfare, Hill Garden Ayyappa Bhakta Sangam (HGABS), Thane, distributed free textbooks and study materials to the students of the Zilla Parishad School at Kandali village in Murbad Taluka, Thane district, on June 30, 2026.

HGABS Secretary Sashikumar Nair and volunteer Ramesh Gopalan represented the organisation at the distribution programme. This is the fourth consecutive year that HGABS has extended educational support to the students of the remote village school, located nearly 75 kilometres from Thane.

The Sangam’s contribution to the school goes beyond the annual distribution of study materials. In 2024, HGABS spearheaded the complete renovation of the school building, which was then in a dilapidated condition. The renovation was undertaken with financial support from a private engineering company under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, while HGABS coordinated and supervised the entire project.

Completed at a cost of approximately ₹10 lakh, the renovation included structural repairs, construction of a septic tank, separate toilets for boys and girls, a kitchen for the mid-day meal scheme, an overhead water tank, plumbing, painting, and electrical installations. The renovated school building was completed before the commencement of the academic year and formally handed over to the school on July 6, 2024, in the presence of parents, teachers, and students.

Expressing gratitude to its well-wishers and supporters for their continued encouragement, HGABS reaffirmed its commitment to undertaking more educational and community welfare initiatives in the years ahead, benefiting underprivileged sections of society.
