The New Bombay Keralaleeya Samajam, Nerul is set to honour noted translator Leela Sarkar, a recipient of the Kendra Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Indian literature and translation.
Leela Sarkar has made a remarkable mark in the literary world by translating more than 105 Bengali literary works into Malayalam, thereby building a strong cultural bridge between the two languages. She has also translated several renowned Malayalam literary works into Bengali, helping Malayalam literature reach a wider readership.
The event is scheduled to be held on Sunday, 14 June 2026 at 5.00 p.m. at the New Bombay Keralaleeya Samajam Hall, Nerul.
The function will be inaugurated by acclaimed novelist Balakrishnan, while S. Harish, Kerala Literary Award winner, will deliver the keynote address on the topic “The Contribution of Translation to Malayalam Literature.”
A presentation of selected translated works of Leela Sarkar will be introduced by C.P. Krishnakumar. The event will be presided over by K.A. Kurup, President of New Bombay Keralaleeya Samajam.
