Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma visited Jehangir Art Gallery on Tuesday to inaugurate “Bhoomija — Born of the Earth”, a painting exhibition by renowned National Award-winning artist Tapati Bhowmik Majumdar.
The Governor toured the exhibition alongwith the Mrs. K. G. Menon, Secretary, Jahangir Art Gallery, Tapati Bhowmik Majumdar and others. He appreciated the artist’s distinctive style and creative presentation of artworks inspired by nature and the earth. He also congratulated Tapati Bhowmik Majumdar for her remarkable contribution to contemporary art.
Senior actress Jayati Bhatia, noted artist and Sir J. J. School of Art professor Maruti Shelke, Sadhvi Majumdar and several art lovers were present on the occasion.
The exhibition will remain open for visitors till May 18 at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai.
