The sixth edition of Sinddhu Nair’s Ghungroo, one of India’s leading dance festivals, was held with great enthusiasm at the CIDCO Auditorium, Vashi, on Sunday, June 21. Organized in association with the Indian Film & Television Choreographers Association (IFTCA) and the All India Artists Association (AIAA), Shimla, the day-long cultural extravaganza witnessed participation from more than 1,600 artists representing over 120 dance groups from across the country.

Founded by noted cultural promoter Sindhu Nair, the festival has earned a reputation as a unique non-commercial platform dedicated to promoting Indian art and culture. True to its vision, the event neither charges participation fees nor sells tickets, providing deserving artists an opportunity to showcase their talent purely on merit.

The festival featured a vibrant blend of Classical, Folk, Bollywood, Contemporary, Western and Semi-Classical dance performances, reflecting India’s rich cultural diversity. Thousands of dance enthusiasts and cultural lovers attended the event throughout the day.

The programme was graced by several prominent dignitaries, including Navi Mumbai Mayor Sujata Suraj Patil, Deputy Mayor Dashrath Bhagat, former MP Sanjeev Naik, former MLA Sandeep Naik, trustee of Shri Siddhivinayak Temple Rajaram Deshmukh, former CRPF Additional Director General Randeep Dutta, Bollywood lyricists A.M. Turaz and Mayur Puri, internationally acclaimed dancer Sandip Soparrkar, choreographers Phulwa Khamkar, Jeet Singh, and Javed Sanadi, along with numerous social leaders, industrialists, educationists, artists and cultural personalities.

Addressing the gathering, Sindhu Nair said that Ghungroo is not merely a dance festival but a cultural movement aimed at nurturing talent, preserving India’s artistic traditions and inspiring future generations. She reiterated her vision of establishing Navi Mumbai as a major cultural hub by creating opportunities for talented performers from across the country.

The overwhelming response to this year’s edition once again reaffirmed Ghungroo’s status as one of India’s most respected dance festivals and a significant celebration of dance, culture and artistic excellence.
