Bombay Keraleeya Samaj (BKS), Matunga, celebrated International Yoga Day and inaugurated its newly renovated Ayurveda Panchakarma Therapy Centre at Kerala Bhavanam, Matunga on Sunday, June 21.
The Yoga Day programme was held at Navathi Memorial Hall at 5.00 pm and featured a yoga demonstration by students of the Samajam’s Yoga Centre, along with talks highlighting the importance of yoga in maintaining physical and mental well-being. The programme was led by Samajam Yoga Instructor Dr. Varsha Maniyar.

Renowned yoga lecturer and meditation expert Dr. Purvi Ketan Shah delivered a special lecture on the significance of yoga and meditation in modern life. She was felicitated by the Samajam during the function. Office-bearers and members of the governing body of the Samajam attended the programme.
The inauguration of the fully renovated and modernized Ayurveda Panchakarma Therapy Centre, located on the second floor of Kerala Bhavanam, was held at 6.30 pm. The ceremony was inaugurated by Dr. Vinayak Vitthal Thayade of Dhanvantari Ayurveda Upchar Kendra, Bandra, by lighting the traditional Bhadradeepam. Past and present office-bearers, governing body members and staff members also participated in the lamp-lighting ceremony.

Presiding over the function, Dr. S. Rajasekharan Nair, President of Bombay Keraleeya Samaj, highlighted the institution’s commitment to promoting Ayurveda and holistic healthcare. A.R. Devadas, Secretary of the Samajam, welcomed the gathering, while M.V. Ravi, Treasurer, proposed the vote of thanks.
Vice-President K. Devadas, Ayurveda In-Charge Vinod Kumar Nair, and Senior Physician Dr. Rani Iyer addressed the gathering and spoke about the upgraded facilities and services available at the therapy centre.
The programme was compered by Mrs. Jyotirmayi, Madhu Nambiar, and Ruben Sebastian. Several distinguished guests, including former office-bearers and senior members of the Samajam, attended the event.
As part of the occasion, gifts sponsored by Aditya Jyoth Hospital and Vaidyaratnam Pharmacy were distributed to participants.
The renovated Ayurveda Panchakarma Therapy Centre is expected to further strengthen the Samajam’s efforts in providing authentic Ayurvedic treatment and wellness services to the community.
