Mumbai-based Nanma Charitable Foundation, which has been actively working for the welfare of underprivileged and tribal communities for the past 15 years, is launching a year-long rural development project in Vehloli village in Shahapur taluka of Thane district from June 2026.

The initiative aims to improve education, healthcare, hygiene and environmental awareness among tribal students and families in the village. Around 354 students from local schools are expected to benefit from the six-phase programme, which includes distribution of study materials, computers, rainwater storage facilities, medical camps, nutritional support, school beautification drives and water purifiers.

The Kalyan-based organisation has been carrying out similar developmental activities in several tribal villages across Maharashtra since 2014, focusing on education, healthcare and nutritional support. The foundation has also been supporting differently-abled students through its educational assistance initiatives.

Speaking about the project, foundation founder and secretary Sunil Raj said the mission is driven by the vision of empowering tribal communities through education and healthcare with the support of volunteers and socially conscious well-wishers.

The foundation’s volunteer network includes dedicated members such as Mridul Prabhakar, Divya Nair and Nandana, among others.
