Malayali IAS officer Valsa Nair Singh has been appointed as the New Chairperson of the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC). The appointment was made by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
A native of Thodupuzha, Valsa Nair Singh is a former Additional Chief Secretary of Maharashtra and brings vast administrative experience to the post. As MERC Chairperson, she will oversee key responsibilities including electricity tariff regulation, power procurement agreements, policy planning to meet growing energy demands, and supervision of power distribution across the state.
Her appointment has been widely welcomed by the Malayali community in Mumbai, marking yet another proud moment for Kerala professionals serving at the national level.
