Keli’s 33rd Anniversary Celebrations to be held on December 13 and 14

As part of the annual celebrations, the Pranathikeli Festival, held every alternate year in memory of renowned music critic Annapoornadevi,
Keli will celebrate its 33rd anniversary with a series of cultural programmes, seminars, and classical performances on December 13 and 14, with the main events scheduled at the Terna Auditorium, Nerul (West). Ahead of these celebrations, a Folklore Seminar will be held on Sunday, December 7, at the Nerul New Bombay Keraleeya Samajam, from 10 AM to 5 PM.

This year’s seminar, dedicated to Narthakaratnam Kannan Peruvannan, will revolve around the theme “Modern Folklore and Cultural Resistance.”
Dr. Aju Narayanan will present a paper titled ” Naattarivum-koottarivum-prathirodhathinte samskarika roopangal” (Local Knowledge and Collective Knowledge – Cultural Metaphors of Resistance).
A.V. Ajayakumar will address the topic “Art, Time, Country – The Cultural Landscape of Theyyam,” and Dr. C.K. Jayanthi will speak on themes rooted in the folklore of Koodiyattam.

In the afternoon sessions, Sajneev Itthithanam will speak on ‘Talapoli’, exploring folk rhythms and their contemporary variations. Dr. Shibi will present a talk on the parallel history and folklore of Buddhist movements, followed by an open public discussion.

On Saturday, December 13 at 6:30 PM, Rudra Veena maestro Jyoti Hegde will present a Dhrupad recital.
On Sunday, December 14, Dr. Nina Prasad will perform mohiniattam.
