Mumbai marked a long-awaited milestone with the commencement of commercial operations at Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), offering the city a much-needed second aviation hub after decades of capacity constraints. The airport began operations with 48 flights on Day One, serving over 4,000 passengers and connecting key domestic destinations.
The launch eases pressure on the single-runway Mumbai airport and significantly enhances air connectivity across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
