Kerala In Mumbai was launched in the year 2010 as an English monthly magazine with a clear vision — to serve as a vibrant platform connecting the large Malayali community living in Mumbai. At a time when there was a growing need for a common medium to share news, achievements, cultural activities and community developments, the magazine emerged as a unique initiative that brought together Mumbai Malayalees under one umbrella.
Over the years, Kerala In Mumbai successfully chronicled numerous events, personalities, and milestones of the Malayali community in the city. The magazine highlighted cultural programmes, social initiatives, literary contributions and inspiring stories of individuals who made a mark in their respective fields. Through its pages, the publication also helped strengthen the cultural bond between Kerala and the Malayali diaspora in Mumbai, making it a valued publication among readers.
The magazine continued to be published regularly until the COVID-19 pandemic, a period that brought unprecedented challenges to print media across the world. Although a few more issues were brought out after the pandemic, the changing media landscape and the considerable decline in the habit of reading printed magazines made it increasingly difficult to sustain the print edition. Eventually, a couple of years ago, we had to take the difficult decision to discontinue the publication of the print version of Kerala In Mumbai.
At this juncture, I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to all our readers, contributors, advertisers, well-wishers and supporters who stood with us throughout this journey. Your encouragement and support played a crucial role in enabling us to publish the magazine consistently and on time for many years.
However, the spirit and legacy of Kerala In Mumbai continue. In order to preserve and share the valuable content published over the years, we have now decided to digitally archive our print editions. All past issues of the magazine will be uploaded one by one in PDF format in the Magazine Section of our web portal – keralainmumbai.com.
We invite our readers to revisit these editions and explore the rich collection of articles, features and community stories that documented an important phase of the Mumbai Malayali community. For those who may have missed reading some of the earlier issues, this will also be a wonderful opportunity to go through the content at their convenience.
We sincerely hope that this digital initiative will help keep the memories and contributions captured in the pages of Kerala In Mumbai alive for the community and for future generations.
With regards,
P. V. Vijaykumar
