The 14th Malayalotsavam of the Western Region from Bandra to Dahisar of the Malayala Bhasha Pracharana Sangham was held at St. John’s High School Auditorium in Siddhartha Nagar, Borivali East, from 5 pm on Sunday, March 29th. The closing ceremony began with colorful cultural programs presented by artists from various organizations in the region.

The closing ceremony, chaired by Western Region President Dr. Gracie Varghese, was inaugurated by R.D. Harikumar, President of the Mumbai Chapter of Malayalam Mission and cultural activist. Girija Vallabhan honored the chief guest by presenting a memento. Harikumar, in his inaugural speech, described the beginning and early activities of the Malayala Bhasha Pracharana Sangham. He praised the Western Region for its commendable role in the growth of the movement and remembered the early workers. He added that Malayalam festivals are a good platform to nurture the creative instincts of our children and that we can be proud that Malayalam Mission learners are the main beneficiaries of these platforms.

Malayala Bhasha Pracharana Sangham Central Committee General Secretary Reena Santosh, Regional Malayalotsavam Organizing Committee Convener Babu Krishnan, Regional Convener Pradeep Kumar and others also shared the stage.

The awards were distributed to the winners of the 14th Regional Malayalam Festival. Representatives of Borivali Malayalee Samajam, who won the team championship, and their team members received the trophy. Sahar Malayalee Samajam team members received the runner-up championship.

Pradeep Kumar proposed the vote of thanks. Sheetal Sreeraman moderated the programs.
