In a compassionate and coordinated effort, members of Mulund Kerala Samajam and Konkan Yatravedi extended timely assistance to a Malayali home nurse who found herself stranded in Mulund West under distressing circumstances.
Bindu, a native of Chirayinkeezhu in Thiruvananthapuram district, had arrived in Mumbai around ten days ago in search of employment as a home nurse through an agency. However, following a dispute regarding her scope of work, she decided to discontinue the job and return home. Being new to Mumbai, unfamiliar with the local language, and unaware of her exact location, Bindu faced significant difficulty in navigating her way back.
In a state of distress, she managed to reach Thane railway station alone and contacted her relative, CPO Sumesh of Chirayinkeezhu Police Station, seeking urgent assistance. The matter was subsequently brought to the attention of Konkan Yatravedi coordinator and senior social worker Raghunathan Nair, along with representatives of Mulund Kerala Samajam.
Responding swiftly, Konkan Yatravedi members T.K. Balachandran Nair and Edassery Ramachandran, in coordination with Team Mulund Kerala Samajam, intervened and ensured Bindu’s safe return journey. On March 26, 2026, at around 12 noon, she was escorted from her residence in Mulund West to Thane railway station and safely boarded the 16345 Netravati Express (Coach S2, Berth 72) bound for Kerala.
Konkan Yatravedi expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those who extended support and cooperation in facilitating the safe journey, including T.K. Balachandran Nair, Edassery Ramachandran, Team Mulund Kerala Samajam, and Raghunathan Nair.
The incident highlights the strength of community networks in Mumbai, especially in supporting fellow Malayalis in times of need.
