Women’s Day Celebrations by Sree Narayana Mandira Samiti Units in Mumbai

Various units of Sree Narayana Mandira Samiti, one of the prominent Malayalee organisations in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra, will celebrate International Women’s Day with a series of programmes across different centres in the city and suburbs on Sunday.

At the Mira Road Guru Center Auditorium, the programmes will begin at 4 pm with cultural performances by women and children. The event is being jointly organised by the Mira Road, Dahisar and Bhayandar units of the Mandira Samiti. A Samskaarika Sammelanam will be held from 5 pm to 7.30 pm, with Dr. Aswathy Pillai, Head of the Healthcare Programme at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, attending as the chief guest. Samithi’s ladies wing Central Committee Secretary Vijaya Raghunath and Zonal Convener Vandana Sathyan will also participate in the programme. A musical night by Sargalaya Troupe will follow from 7.30 pm.

In Gurudevgiri, the Nerul East and West units will jointly organise the Women’s Day celebration from 10.30 am. Women’s Wing Vashi Zonal Convener Manju Premkumar will preside over the function. Sujatha Prasad D, Usha Soman and Vijayamma Shashi Dharan will deliver the welcome address, while Sheeba Sunil will welcome the gathering and Geetha Vijayan will propose the vote of thanks. As part of the celebration, senior women will be honoured, followed by cultural programmes.

Meanwhile, the Vashi unit will conduct its Women’s Day programme from 2 pm at the Guru Center, Rainbow Society, Sector 10, Vashi. Social activist Adv. Prema Menon will be the chief guest. The event will also feature cultural programmes and discussions on topical social issues.

Tarapur Mandira Samiti’s Consecration Anniversary

The Tarapur unit of Sree Narayana Mandira Samiti will celebrate the 9th Consecration Anniversary of the temple on Sunday with a series of religious and cultural programmes.

The day’s rituals will begin with Ganapathi Homam at 5.10 am, followed by Guru Pooja at 7 am and Guru Bhagavata Parayanam at 8 am. In the evening, Guru Pooja will be held from 5.15 pm, followed by Vilakku Pooja.

A cultural conference will also be organised in connection with the celebrations, with M. I. Damodaran presiding over the function. O. K. Prasad, P. Harindran and N. P. Mohanan will address the gathering. Cultural programmes will follow the conference, and Mahaprasadam will be served at 10 am.
