Maharashtra Minister for Higher and Technical Education Chandrakant Dada Patil inaugurated the institution and addressed the gathering as the chief guest.

Several distinguished dignitaries were present on the occasion, including MLAs Prashant Thakur, Mahesh Baldi and Vikrant Patil, along with Venugopal Reddy, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Department, Government of Maharashtra. Academicians, educationists and well-wishers of the institution also attended the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries highlighted the role of quality higher education in shaping the future of youth and lauded the contributions of the Pillai Group in the field of education over the decades.

The Pillai educational movement began in 1970 under the Mahatma Gandhi Education Society with just 20 students. Over the years, it has grown into a major educational network comprising 13 higher education institutions and 10 schools across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Rasayani. Today, these institutions cater to around 30,000 students with the support of nearly 3,000 staff members.

The inauguration of Pillai University is expected to further strengthen the group’s commitment to providing quality education and creating new opportunities for students in the region.
