According to police sources, the incident occurred at Roy’s Langford Road bungalow during an Income Tax raid. He was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital and later shifted to Narayana Hospital for advanced medical care, where doctors confirmed his death.
Police officials stated that the Income Tax team had been conducting searches at the premises for the past two to three days. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Akshay Hakay said investigations are underway and that Roy’s family members, who are currently abroad, are expected to arrive in India shortly.
Roy’s brother informed a Malayalam television channel that Roy was in possession of a licensed firearm and alleged that prolonged Income Tax proceedings had caused him considerable stress. The matter is being probed by the police, and further details are awaited following post-mortem formalities.
